There are both public and private universities in Cyprus. The University of Cyprus, the Open University of Cyprus, and the Cyprus University of Technology are the public universities. The European University of Cyprus, Frederick University, Neapolis University, and the University of Nicosia are the country's four private universities.

Undergraduate degrees in Cyprus are typically four years long. Many colleges also offer master's and doctoral degrees, which can take anywhere from three to five years to complete depending on the program and degree type.

The cost of attending a university in Cyprus for undergraduate degree programs ranges from around 3,000 EUR to 13,000 EUR each year. The cost of postgraduate studies ranges from 5,000 EUR to 10,000 EUR.

What are the requirements for enrolling in a university in Cyprus?
To be accepted for undergraduate study, all applicants must have finished a secondary (high) school education or twelve years (GCE AL) of schooling or the equivalent, or hold a bachelor's degree for post-graduate study.

The completion of a bachelor's degree from an approved institution, or its equivalent, is the usual admission criterion for graduate programs (professional qualifications).

Is it necessary to take the IELTS exam in order to study in Cyprus?

Applicants who are not native English speakers can either establish their English language competency through the IELTS or TOEFL tests or take the University's English Placement Test (EPT) once they arrive in Cyprus. If the candidate fails to demonstrate language proficiency or achieve the required passing mark on the Cyprus University's English Placement Test (EPT), they will be asked to complete an additional English language course in Cyprus in addition to their existing academic program.

When is the university's first day of classes?
The academic year in Cyprus runs from September to June for students pursuing undergraduate courses. It is separated into two semesters, with a two-week Christmas vacation and a two-week Easter break in between. Summer sessions are also available at some universities.

For admission to the summer semester, applications must be submitted by April 15th.
For admission to the autumn semester, applications must be submitted by July 31st.
Applications for the spring semester must be filed by November 30th.

How long does a post-study work visa last in Cyprus?
Non-EU students must leave Cyprus within 60 days of completing their course of study. You are permitted to work part-time for 20 hours a week during your study. You can utilize this time, or the 60 days following your graduation, to hunt for a suitable career or begin your application for a business.

Students from non-EU countries who want to work in Cyprus have to pass a labor market test. This means that the job post must be offered first to Cypriots and EU nationals, and then to non-EU nationals if a competent candidate cannot be found.
